DG Khan Medical College was established in 2010 and is a public medical school located in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, Pakistan. DHQ Hospital is attached to Dera Ghazi Khan College as a teaching hospital.
History
In early 2009, a seven-member team from King Edward Medical University proposed plans for four new medical schools. On November 27, 2010, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of four new medical schools including DG Khan Medical College.
The government has allocated land for the college, and the campus will be built at a cost of Rs 10,000. 10,000 2000000000
The first batch of 100 students was admitted in the semester of 2010-11 and their courses started at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur which was transferred to DG Khan Campus on 28th November 2011.
Professor Niaz Baloch has been appointed President of the newly established Medical School. Dr. Niaz Baloch was replaced in 2012 by Prof. Ghulam Mustafa Arain, Prof. Shamim Hassan and Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abul Kaif Saif Prof. Dr. Shah Zaman Latif (Retd.) Campus
The college is located a short distance from DHQ Hospital. The campus is spread over 229 kanals of land. DHQ Hospital is located adjacent to the College. The total area of the entire campus, hospital and hostel is about 650 kanals.
The campus has four main lecture theaters, seven demonstration halls, six science laboratories, two museums, a library, a cafeteria, seven basic medical science departments, and two separate hostels for boys and girls.
