History
The college was established in 1972 when Ataullah Mengal was the Chief Minister. The Minister of Education at the time Mir Gul Khan Nasir was from the National People’s Party (Wali Group) and had graduated more than 2,900 students (approximately 2003). In 1995, it received a grant of 488 million yen from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The new building was put into use in 1996.
BUMHS was conceived in 2004. So started the preliminary process to make it established. However, it was not until 2017 that the Balochistan Parliament passed the 2017 Boland University of Medicine and Health Sciences Act, and the 2017 BUMHS Act was realized. The 2017 BUMHS bill was approved by the Governor of Balochistan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Achakzai on February 20, 2017. The BUMHS notice was issued on February 22, 2017, and was published in the Balochistan Gazette in March 2018. Professor Naqib Ullah Acakzai was appointed as the first vice president of Bolan University of Medicine and Health Sciences Quetta March 1, 2018
Accredition
It is recognized by the Pakistan College of Physicians and Surgeons and can teach medicine, hematology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.
