Government of Lahore Dyal Singh Graduate Institution is a postgraduate and graduate school in Lahore, Pakistan, affiliated with the Punjab University and the Lahore Intermediate and Secondary Education Commission.

History

Sardar Dyal Singh of Lahore created the college through his will. Sardar Dyal Singh is a member of the Shergil or Gill clan of Sardars from Majitha, a village near the Wahga border between Lahore and Amritsar. He is renowned as the “creator of The Tribune” since he invested much of his personal money in the newspaper in 1898. Dyal Singh’s estate was bequeathed to two trust funds this year. Dayal Singh College, Dyal Singh Library, Dayal Singh Majithia Hall, and Dayal Singh Mansions at Lahore Shopping Center, near to the Lahore High Court, are all run by an educational trust.

Sardar Dyal Singh Majitha is a philanthropist who is passionate about education. He is a visionary and doer who has devoted all of his assets to the advancement of education. He gave practically all of his property in Lahore, Pakistan, to the college’s foundation.
