In fact, the establishment of Central College in Lahore was approved by the British Raj in 1856, provided the professors were from Oxford University, Cambridge University, Dublin University HC, and Durham University. Government College was founded in 1861 by King Gottlieb, a professor of Arabic and Islamic law at King’s College London. On January 1 of the same year, the College opened its doors at Raja Dayan Singh Haveli Mahal Dewal, Lahore, where it was affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
Old campus
