Gomal University (GU) is a public university in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was established in 1974. It is the second oldest university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one of the largest campuses in the province.
It was founded by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who founded Gomal University in DI. Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Prime Minister Bhutto laid the foundation stone of Gomal University on May 1, 1974, advancing its policy of highly educated Pakistan to meet the challenges of the modern world in all aspects of life. The charity and land was provided by Nawabullah Nawaz Khan, who served as the university’s first and founding vice-chancellor. Nawaz Khan donated 11,000 km of agricultural land for the establishment of the university.
