Punjab University Lahore is one of the highest educational institutions and has been given high status by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The first campus of the university was established by the British in Lahore (1882), after which many sub-campuses were established in other major cities of Pakistan like Gujranwala, Jhelum and Khanpura.
