The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is located in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. It was established in 1980, and is currently ranked 16th in the HEC rankings of general category universities in Pakistan.
Basic information, faculty and departments
It is a multi-disciplinary, multi-campus university. The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is the largest educational institution in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It consists of four colleges, the College of Science, the College of Arts, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of Engineering. More than 15,000 students come from different parts of Azad Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has made progress in both academic and administrative fields. Most of the buildings of Muzaffarabad Campus and Rawalpindi Campus were destroyed during the 2005 regional earthquake. The new Saudi-funded convertible campus, known as the King Abdullah Campus, covers more than 1,800 kanals (0.91 sq km) and was handed over to the university in October 2019. The old Chahla campus is also being refreshed and refreshed. The state-of-the-art university has a campus in the newly formed Hatian Bala district, a campus in the Neelum Valley and a girls’ campus in the Bagh district. The Turkish-funded temporary civic campus will be relocated to the new King Abdullah campus, and the number of colleges and departments will increase. The university trains graduates, masters of philosophy and doctoral students. The university has the Kashmir Institute, which teaches the history of Kashmir. The Institute of Geology is one of the oldest departments of the university and one of the best geological institutes in Pakistan.
