The University of Gujarat (UOG) is a Pakistani state university in Gujarat, Punjab. It was created on February 23, 2004, by the Punjab Provincial Assembly under Act No. IX of 2004 to satisfy the higher education needs of the people of central Punjab, encompassing Gujarat, Sialkot, and Gujji Ranwala, as well as Wazirabad, Jhelum, and Mandi Bahauddin.

Because of the vast number of educational institutions in the area, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1898), the founder of Aligarh Muslim University, termed the surrounding area of Gujarat “Khita-e-Younan” (“Similar to Ancient Greek Territory”). The nineteenth century. The main campus is named after Hafiz Muhammad Hayat, a local Sufi saint. The Hafiz Hayat Temple is situated at a prominent location on the Gujarat University campus. In terms of architecture, site planning, and landscape design, it is a masterpiece. It’s perched atop a six-foot-tall mound that rises over the Terre Plain.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007, was the driving force behind the establishment of Gujarat University. The university’s first president was Professor Muhammad Nizamuddin. Professor Mohamed Fahim Malik is the current vice president of Gujarat University.
