Malakand University (abbreviated as UOM) is a public university located in Chakdara, Lodar District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Swat River, Pakistan. The university was established in 2001 and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various fields. As of 2010, the university is in a general category and has been named “Seventh Place” by the Pakistan Higher Education Commission.
Background
People felt the need to set up a university in Malakand province from 1972, but it was not until 2001 that the idea was put into practice. The university was built on a large and beautiful plot of land in the village of La Mora, owned by the Forest Department. The university acquired more land, covering about 300 acres, surrounded by a fence. The university is located in the center of Malakand province and is connected to Swat, Lod Dir and Upper Dir, Gutler and Malakand.
Differences
In the 2020 QS World University Rankings, Malakand University ranks 351-400 in the ranking of Asian universities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University ranks first, and Pakistan ranks 17th overall.
