Bacha Khan Medical College is a government-run medical school in Mardan, Pakhtunkhwa Province, Khyber Agency, Pakistan. Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as Bach Khan, was the inspiration for the name. The college is accredited by PMDC and is connected with Khyber Medical University.

Recognition and affiliations

In 2010, BKMC became the first public medical school in Pakistan to be accredited by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Commission. Since 2010, the college has been associated with KMU Peshawar. MMC Teaching Hospital was certified by the Pakistan College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP) for postgraduate training in main areas in 2011. Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) is BKMC’s teaching hospital, featuring all major and minor specialties, as well as the most advanced diagnostics (CT scanner, MRI) and support services. MMC has completed the first and second phases, and the total bed strength now surpasses 400.

Future plan

Finally, 1000 Kanals of land near Sheikh Malton Town has just been purchased for the future growth of the college. This money will be utilized to build a staff colony, regional offices for the CPSP and KMU, a Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Institute, and a separate Dental College.

SLRC and Library

The Self-study Resource Center, a computer center equipped with the newest computers and equipment to satisfy the needs of students, instructors, and staff, has also been constructed. A 4MB DSL line wifi wireless network connects the college to the computer labs. Despite being the newest public medical school, the college has the necessary competent professors (basic/clinical) who were selected by the Public Service Committee. A well-equipped air-conditioned library with around 6000 texts/reference books and periodicals is available at the college. It gives students, educators, and staff their own reading rooms.
