Affiliation

• Initially, the college was associated with the University of Punjab Lahore, which was the sole university in Punjab at the time.
• It was connected with Bahauddin Zakariya Institution, a newly established university in South Punjab, in 1975.
• It became affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, in January 2003.
• After the Punjab Provincial Assembly passed the Nishtar Medical University Act in September 2017, the college was promoted to university status.
• Nishtar Medical University (NMU) was granted permission by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to conduct MBBS and BDS examinations for undergraduates and MD/MS examinations for post-graduates on November 19, 2020.

Constituent colleges & programs offered

1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): a five-year degree program at Nishtar Medical College. Medical residency and fellowship training in several specialties of medicine and surgery in association with Pakistan’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.

2. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): a four-year curriculum at the Nishtar Institute of Dentistry. Postgraduate programs; residency and fellowship training in various dental specialties in collaboration with the Pakistan College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Nishtar College of Nursing is a nursing school in Nishtar, Pakistan. A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is a four-year nursing curriculum.
