Taxila University is a renowned historic school of higher learning located on the east bank of the Indus River in the ancient city of Taxila. Around 1000 BC, it became the capital of the Achaemenid territory in the northwest of the ancient Indian subcontinent when the Achaemenid captured the Indus Valley around 515 BC. Taxila sits at the crossroads of Asia’s major trade routes, and it is thought to have been inhabited by Persians, Greeks, Scythians, and a variety of other races from across the Achaemenid Empire.
University
The ancient Taxila University is thought to be one of the world’s oldest universities, according to certain accounts. Others disagree that it is a university in the contemporary sense, claiming that the teachers who live there may not be formally affiliated with any college and that Taxila does not appear to be specialized. In comparison to the subsequent Nalanda University in East India, the lecture hall and residential area were erected.
