Bahauddin Zakaria University is a public university with its main campus in Multan, Pakistan. Bahauddin Zakaria University was established in the 5th century as Multan University and is one of the largest universities in Punjab. The name was changed in honor of Baha’u’llah Zakariya, a Sufi. As a state university, it offers degree courses in more than 60 major fields, including biochemistry, pharmacy, engineering, humanities, business administration, law, arts, music, information technology, agriculture and languages.
According to the newly published 2016-2017 Times Higher Education (THE)  ranking system, Bahauddin Zakaria University is one of the 800 most powerful universities in the world. In 2019, the university was ranked 8th nationally in the Pakistan Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) category of General Universities.
The university began operating in 1975 with eight departments in rented buildings. The university now has a large campus with 60 departments and several part-time colleges such as Gilani Law College and Multan College of Arts, and Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences and Technology (FAST). (Formerly University of Agriculture College or UCA), Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The university also has accommodation facilities for students and staff. Bahauddin Zakaria University is a general university providing education in arts and sciences. As agriculture is the mainstay of the region, this place and environment produces some of the finest silver and cotton crops in the country, such as mango, lemon and date, so that people can be trained to solve agricultural problems. On this occasion, the College of Agriculture was established in 1989. An agricultural college and its completion are an integral part of the College of Engineering’s university plan. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in the same year. The Commerce Department opened in November of that year. BBA classes began in October of that year in the Department of Business Administration. The bachelor’s degree in computer science began in November. 1996, although Masters in Computer Science (MCS) has been employed since 1989. BSc Electrical Engineering classes started in November 1997.
